Having online class in a synchronous sessions allows for the development of a classroom community. It will help alleviate fears of not knowing if a students is understanding the material since questions can be asked and answered in real time either by the teacher or another student in the class.
Blackboard Collaborate is on LMS that has the ability to facilitate a live meeting online. Teachers should have a dedicated time for this type of logon. I think if the teacher has the content material pre-loaded and uses the live meeting to address questions/concerns will be a great help. Of course, we all know that sometimes when we need online technology the most, something goes wrong, so teachers should have a backup plan. Perhaps the discussion boards discussed in my previous post.
